The NIJ In Short Fact Sheet Effective Police Communications Systems Require New "Governance" describes how police departments effectively communicate with each other to protect and serve citizens. To do that, police department create "governance" agreements to jointly own, operate and manage communications systems for the benefit of all participating agencies, which may be in different counties or states. This Fact Sheet also describes a history of public safety communication and how communication continues to evolve in the present and the future.
