Innovative Courts Keep Women Safe and Hold Abusers Accountable

A woman is most in danger of being harmed by her abusive partner immediately after the couple separates. NIJ evaluated a field test of domestic violence courts to see if they help keep women safer.

The evaluation identified promising ways domestic violence courts can offer comprehensive services while increasing safety. Additionally, the evaluation found a number of obstacles to setting up better domestic violence programs.

The evaluation will be of interest to anyone  who is concerned about effective handling of domestic violence cases.
