Public Health Emergency
Public health emergencies, such as a pandemic, natural disaster, or bio-terror attack, can threaten civil order and place the rule of law at risk. OJP's Bureau of Justice Assistance helps states and communities prepare for these crises by providing recommendations for justice system agencies, including law enforcement agencies, courts, and corrections departments, on how to respond. BJA has worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Police Executive Research Forum, and other organizations to develop a guide for law enforcement agencies, a road map for courts, and a framework for cross-sector coordination in emergency preparedness, among other resources.
Visit the BJA Web page for more information on OJP's pandemic efforts.
