For persons under age 14, the homoicide offending rate began at 0.2 in 1976 and remained constant until 1977. Then the rate increased to 0.3 in 1978, before decreasing to 0.2 in 1979, where it remained constant until 1988. After 1988, it increased to 0.3 in 1989, before falling, reaching 0.2 in 1990. Then the rate rose, reaching 0.4 in 1994, before dropping to a low of 0.1 in 2000, where it remained constant until 2005.
For persons ages 14-17, the homoicide offending rate began at 11.4 in 1976 and decreased to 10.5 in 1978. After 1978, the rate rose to 13.0 in 1980, before decreasing to 9.2 in 1984. Then it increased to 31.3 in 1993, before falling to 8.8 in 2003. Then the rate climbed to 9.3 in 2005.
For persons ages 18-24, the homoicide offending rate began at 22.8 in 1976 and remained constant until 1977. After 1977, the rate increased to 30.0 in 1980, before decreasing, reaching 22.2 in 1984, where it remained constant until 1985. After 1985, it increased to 42.8 in 1993, before decreasing to 25.2 in 2004. The rate then increased to 26.5 in 2005.
For persons ages 25-34, the homoicide offending rate began at 19.4 in 1976 and fell to 18.6 in 1977. The rate then climbed to 22.6 in 1980, before decreasing to a low of 10.9 in 1999. It then rose to a high of 13.5 in 2005.
For persons ages 35-49, the homoicide offending rate began at 10.7 in 1976 and increased to 12.8 in 1980. Then the rate decreased to 4.7 in 1999, before rising to 5.1 in 2005.
For persons ages 50 and older, the homoicide offending rate began at 3.7 in 1976 and remained constant until 1977. Then the rate fell to 3.5 in 1978, before increasing to 3.7 in 1979. After 1979, it decreased to 1.3 in 2001, where it remained constant until 2002. The rate then rose to 1.4 in 2003, where it remained constant until 2005.
